Dune series

November 8, 2007

I’ve become a bit obsessed with the series. I’m on the second/fourth book currently. I liked the D. Lynch movie, but so far.. watching the TV series, I’m not impressed. After watching Children of Dune, I realize that it was the second and third book all mashed into one. I did think that series was pretty good. I hate the fact that the cast of the TV mini series of Dune and Children of Dune have different casts. Not all of them, but enough to make a difference. Thankfully, at least Paul, Chani and the Princess are the same. Stilgar, Lady Jessica, and Duncan are all different. Blech. It’d be like watching the Tolkien films and having different actors play the main characters. It sorta sucks. Oh well.

The books ROCK, the series… I’ve liked and the movie, well.. in my mind, it’ll always be the original.

Stargate Atlantis..

Welp, I’m catching up on Season 3! Also, trying to watch a bit of Season 4. I just wish it was on at a different night and time. Actually, I don’t mind the time so much, just earlier in the week would be better…

I’ve decided that I get addicted to shows like this and Firefly due to the cast, more than the stories of each week… The characters that you get to know slowly over a season, you start to bond to them! McKay is one of my favorites, he reminds me of a good friend of ours.. (except I find McKay hilarious… I admit, I find our friend annoying at times when he acts all McKay like…). But, I really like Zelenka! He’s just as smart as McKay, but he has humility… On another note, I think Joe is separated from birth with Bob Scanlan. Only difference is the hair color…

I’m bummed that something has happened to Weir, although I have yet to get to that part of the story.. I’m highly intrigued on what happened there. I’m also sorta excited that Jewel joined the cast, I loved her in Firefly!
